I’m Crystal Tan,

a passionate product designer and brand marketing strategist of 7+ years and a photographer for over 12 years. Visual storytelling through creative avenues allows me to share my love and excitement for human-centered design.

My extensive educational background spans over 10 years. Four colleges, five major changes (chemistry, journalism, and business marketing just to name a few), a drive to discover my strengths, and a lot of personal development brought me to where I am today. In 2022, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Information Technology, with a focus on Web Design and User Experience, from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Gaining such diverse experiences through my educational journey has proven to be exceptionally valuable and has provided a clear path in my pursuit to create meaningful designs.

I was fortunate to immediately transfer my skills in a professional setting by joining The Meet Group as a Product Designer where I designed features for dating and live streaming on mobile and web platforms. Unfortunately, the company went through a major restructuring and I was impacted by the mass layoff. During my time as a Brand Marketing Manager in a start-up environment, I learned to be a strong mentor, build empathy, and work with many different personalities. These humbling experiences connected me to my passion for better understanding user experiences, intentional design, and elevating brand loyalty.

In my spare time, I am an avid rock climber and freelance photographer. Climbing has allowed me to explore beautiful places and have unique human connections, influencing my inspiration for photography and my approach to design. I’m also a mom to a crazy, but adorable, blue heeler and enjoy making jewelry.

For me, it’s not about getting to the destination quickly, it’s about the things you learn along the way that help get you there. I am thrilled to continue on my journey and to support positive progression through the work I do. Success, to me, is when I can contribute to an equitable and better future for all.
